About Yams Cooking
Last updated · 27 September 2026
Recipes you can actually make, filmed start to finish, then written down properly.
Yams Cooking is a recipe channel and website run by Yams. Every recipe here has been cooked on camera first — nothing is published that has not been made in a real kitchen, start to finish.
What you'll find here
- Recipes — each one written out with exact weights and measures, a step-by-step method, and the video it came from embedded on the page.
- The Kitchen Notebook — researched articles on why things work: why cookies spread, why a no-bake cheesecake won't set, what browning actually is.
- Free 7-day meal plans — sample plans for losing weight, gaining weight and maintaining.
- A calorie counter — a simple tool with over a hundred common foods plus every recipe on this site.
How the recipes are written
Recipes are written in grams and cups together, because a cup of flour can vary by 20 g depending on how it is filled, and that difference is enough to change the result. Where weight matters, weight is given.
Nutrition figures are calculated per serving from standard ingredient data. They are good-faith estimates, not laboratory measurements — see the recipe and nutrition disclaimer for what that means in practice.
The videos
Every recipe on this site exists as a video on the Yams Cooking YouTube channel. The written page is there so you do not have to scrub back through a video with flour on your hands.
The presenter in the videos, Maya, is an AI-generated character. The recipes, the testing and the writing are not.
